Optical bonding is a process where a layer of optically-clear resin is used to bond the touchscreen glass or plastic cover directly to the LCD or OLED panel beneath it. This technique eliminates the air gap between the layers, creating a single, solid piece.
By eliminating this air gap between the LCD panel and protective glass, condensation that leads to display fogging in hot and humid environments is stopped. Heat is more evenly distributed, and internal display glare, naturally caused by the greenhouse effect, is prevented.
In cold weather applications, the bonding process prevents separation between the display and cover glass, keeping the display strong after years of use.
